ICLP and “Centro de Línguas e Culturas Eslavas” promote a free Portuguese Course for Ukrainian Refugees

A free-of-charge Portuguese Course for Ukranian Refugees starts this March, at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL). In solidarity with the recent war victims from Ukraine, which has brought many Ukrainian citizens to Portugal, ICLP has the honor of joining FLUL’s “Centro de Línguas e Culturas Eslavas” in this initiative.

Teachers from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon (FLUL) will be teaching in this course, as volunteers, and within the faculty’s premises.

This brief introduction to Portuguese has the main objective of providing the students, in a short period of time, with the necessary linguistic skills to allow them a better integration experience in a new country. The different thematic and grammatical contents will be adapted to the Ukrainian population as well as to the current situation. As such, these contents will differ from the usual ICLP courses’ format. This new course aims to be a practical linguistic support course, promoting the first contact with the host country’s language.

Classes will start on March 28th, and the course will have a total of 24 hours. Each session will have a total of 90 minutes and each group will count with 10 to 25 students. The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesdays from 17:00h to 18:30h;
  • Wednesdays from 15:30h to 17:00h and from 17:00h to 18:30h;
  • Thursdays from 17:00h to 18:30h.

Registrations are already open and must be done through this form.
