Annual PFL Course 2021/2022

65th Annual PFL Course.
The Portuguese as a Foreign Language courses (PFL) have been organized by the Faculty of Arts since 1934. In the last few years, more than 40,000 students from the world over have attended these courses.
Besides the classes, students can take part in cultural and academic activities promoted by the Institute of Portuguese Culture and Language in partnership with other divisions of the University of Lisbon.

1st Semester: 7.10.2021 to 31.01.2022
Christmas holidays: 20.12.2021 a 31.12.2021

2nd Semester: 10.02.2022 to 31.05.2022
- Registrations are open until 26th January (2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course). No vacancies are guaranteed after this date.
Easter holidays: 14.4.2022 to 19.4.2022

Schedule:
Mornings: 8:00 – 12:00
Afternoons: 14:00 – 18:00

4 days a week, in one of the shown schedules. Students choose their preferable schedule.

The ICLP courses will be taught person to person. Distance learning during this 2021/2022 school year will only occur if the situation warrants it. Students must wear a mask to enter the Faculty.

Registration and admission

General requirements

  •  17 years old or older
  •  Knowledge of the Roman alphabet

Deadline

Registration must be made up to the 26th January, 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course. No vacancies are guaranteed after this date.

  • 50% on registration
  • 50% within the first 3 days of classes

ATTENTION: Whenever possible, the student must send Proof of Bank Transfer to the Institute (iclp@letras.ulisboa.pt) With a mention of the student’s name.

Note: Students who wish an invoice/receipt with tax number should give this information upon registration or when making any payment.

Withdrawal from the course

  • Up to 2 weeks prior to the beginning of the course, 26th January, 50% of the required registration fee (25% of the total tuition fee) will be reimbursed.
  • The aforementioned reimbursement will only be due if the student informs ICLP in writing the unequivocal intention to withdraw at least 15 days before the start of the course.
  • After this deadline, no reimbursement will be conceded.
  • If the student has proceeded with payment in full, the amount paid when not yet due will be returned.
  • Any request for transfers for another of the Course’s semester/time period will only be considered when that request is made, in writing, to ICLP, at least 15 days before the start of the course which the student withdraws from, and only as long as the transfer is requested for a course within the same academic year.

Enrolment

In order to enrol, the applicable tuition fee payment must be made during the first three days of the course.
Statement of Registration – Declaração de Inscrição - Once student has registered, the student may request a Statement of Registration. The Institute, however, is not responsible for any process of Student VISA obtainment.
Students are placed in the different language proficiency levels according to the results of an assessment test provided by IPLC.
All courses require a minimum number of 8 participants and a maximum of 15.
